Someone built the Span gates long before anyone was here to use them. The Charter doesn't like to talk about it. The Span Archive, in your Codex, collects what explorers recover: survey logs, sealed reports, Cartel ledgers and Choir hymns. Each entry is told in fragments. Find them all and the Charter Archive pays you for the set.
Steps
- Open the Codex and its Span Archive. Open the CodexPlay to try this
- Hack data caches and Choir reliquaries. Lore fragments drop as items.
- Each fragment you loot unlocks the next missing part of its entry.
- When an entry is complete, press Claim for its reward.
How fragments work
Lore fragments are items named Span Archive: followed by the entry's title. You don't need to keep them. The moment one lands in your hold, the Archive records it and unlocks that entry's next missing fragment, in order. A second copy of the same item unlocks the fragment after that.
Where each part of the story is found
The story goes deeper the farther you go from Core space.
| Band | Found in | Entries |
|---|---|---|
| Core | Data caches in Core space | The Charter's own records of the gates |
| Frontier | Data caches and relic sites in the Frontier | Old beacons, Vorr digs, Cartel ledgers of lost gates |
| Void | Choir relic sites and Span signatures in the Void | What the Choir heard, and where the builders went |
Some fragments drop from both data and relic containers in their band. Void entries hold the rarest pieces, and the last ones point beyond the charted stars.
Rewards
A completed entry pays loyalty points with the Charter Archive, once. Deeper entries pay more: 2,000 LP for a Core entry, 5,000 for a Frontier entry and 12,000 for a Void entry. Entries you've finished and claimed are marked Claimed.
Reading the Archive
- Recovered fragments read in order. Missing ones show as Unrecovered entry.
- New fragments are marked New until you've read them.
